Occupational Therapy:
Pediatric occupational therapy helps children to participate in
their daily occupations of school, play and self-care. This goal is achieved using a combination of three approaches:
By using all these approaches together, the child achieves the ability to be more
successful in the classroom, engage more fully in play activities and be more independent during dressing and mealtime activities.
Our occupational therapists have experience treating children with Sensory Processing Disorder, Dyspraxia, Autism Spectrum Disorders, fine motor delays, visual perceptual and visual motor
integration deficits, and feeding challenges. Therapeutic interventions may include adaptive equipment, environmental adaptations, development of "sensory diets", and development of home
programs.
Physical Therapy:
Pediatric physical therapy is recommended for children who have
developmental delays, have been injured, or have movement problems due to an injury, illness or disability. We have experience working with a variety of diagnoses including autism, cerebral
palsy, hemiplegia, traumatic brain injury, developmental delays, and a variety of genetic syndromes. PT’s are able to help strengthen muscles, gain range of motion, and improve balance and
coordination, with the goal of improving mobility and function. Because we specialize in working with children from birth to 5 years of age, therapy is incorporated into play. We are also able to
work with local equipment vendors to secure wheelchairs, bath seats, feeder seats, and other equipment as well as cast for ankle foot orthoses (AFO's).
