Director / Occupational Therapist

Mara Cappelletti MS, OTR/L

I have been a pediatric occupational therapist since 2001.  After receiving my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Delaware in 1997, I first worked with adults with mental illness and developmental disabilities in the community for two years.  Although I learned so much from this experience, I realized that my real passion was to work with children.  I have always loved spending time with children and observing the way they look at the world with wonder and joy.  Children seem to see possibilities instead of barriers.

Because of the joy children have always brought me, I decided to become a pediatric occupational therapist. I received my Master’s Degree in Occupational Science from The University of North Carolina in 2001.  I have worked with children in their homes, schools, day cares, and in clinic settings.  My experience includes working with children ages birth through five with
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Sensory Processing Disorders
  • Dyspraxia
  • Autism
  • Down syndrome
  • Brachial Plexus Injuries
  • Fine Motor Delays
  • Developmental Delays

I have additional training in sensory integration and the Handwriting without Tears program.

In addition to all that I have learned from working with children with special needs and their families, I have also learned quite a bit from my experience as a mother of three wonderful children.  My two girls and son have taught me to approach each day with energy, optimism, and appreciation for all of life’s small wonders.
