Kathleen Gunner PT, C/NDT
Kathy has been a practicing Pediatric Physical Therapist in Wake/Durham Counties for 20 years. These years of experience has allowed her to practice in a wide variety of pediatric settings, including pediatric acute care, pediatric rehabilitation, early intervention, numerous hospital based clinics including the Cerebral Palsy and NICU, developmental pre-schools, and community based settings. These experiences have allowed her to establish a strong medical support network within the area.
Over the years, Kathy has enjoyed developing her skills with numerous specialized training courses, most notably, a certification in both Pediatric and Baby Neuro-developmental Evaluation and Treatment. She has additional training involving: Intervention for the Pre-mature/High Risk Infant, Neuro-motor evaluation and treatment, Sensory Processing, orthotic evaluation and modifications, pediatric soft tissue release, Kinesio-taping, Theratog and SPIO orthotic systems, advanced courses in gait facilitation, adaptive seating and equipment needs, Total Motion Release, MFR, along with numerous others. The varied training allows her to best fit her approach to meet the needs of each child. Her background is extensive in treating a wide variety of pediatric diagnoses including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and traumatic brain injury, orthopedic, pre-maturity, developmental delays, medically fragile children, and genetic anomalies such as Down syndrome.
Kathy thoroughly enjoys her role as a pediatric physical therapist and brings boundless energy into each session. She thrives on the challenge of creatively
integrating "play" into each therapy session with the goal of bringing out the most in each child.
